Ready for Reception – Course Information
A unique Occupational Therapist-led woodland course designed to help children feel confident, independent, and ready to start school.

Our sessions take place in our private woodland, The Roost, where children learn through movement, play, and hands-on experiences in nature.
Dates & Themes
The course runs across six sessions. Please note that the final session is specifically reserved as a catch-up date for anyone who has missed a previous topic (for example, due to a summer holiday). It is not an extra sixth session; if your child attends all five of the core sessions, they do not need to attend the final catch-up.

Thursday 27th August – Ready for Reception Celebration (Catch-up and consolidation session)
What to Expect
Each session focuses on a different area of getting ready for school. Using games, movement, and woodland activities, we'll help children develop the everyday skills they'll need for Reception, including:
Dressing independently
Managing lunchtime (such as opening packets and carrying trays)
Toileting confidence
Balance, coordination, and core strength
Body awareness and physical confidence
The fundamental movement skills that support handwriting
Every activity has a purpose. While the children are busy climbing, balancing, swinging, and exploring, they'll be building the exact physical skills and confidence they need for school.
After each session, you'll receive a short Parent Guide explaining what we've been working on, why it matters, and a few simple, fun ideas to try at home.
Bookings are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, please contact us and we will try to offer a transfer to a future session where possible. Sessions run in most weather conditions; if severe weather makes the site unsafe we will contact you to rearrange.
Risk assessments and organisational policies, including safeguarding and health and safety, are available on request. Earth Seeds Therapy holds appropriate public liability insurance for outdoor therapeutic and forest school activities.
